Product Manager - Workflow & Insights
Clearstory
About the Role
Clearstory is looking for a Product Manager who is eager to take on meaningful responsibility, solve complex problems, and have a real impact on how construction teams manage cost and collaboration. This person will lead efforts to enhance both our core project workflows and the analytics experience, ensuring customers not only get their work done more efficiently, but also gain the insights they need to improve performance and make smarter decisions.
You’ll partner with design and engineering from day one, lead discovery through prototyping and iteration, and stay anchored to customer outcomes — not just feature delivery. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in ambiguity, values crisp written thinking, and wants to help shape not just what we build — but how we work.
What You'll Do
Own Product Outcomes
- Define and drive solutions for both project workflows and analytics/data visualization features that simplify day-to-day work and elevate strategic insights.
- Clarify problems, align stakeholders, and prioritize based on business impact, customer value, and feasibility.
- Leverage customer feedback, usage data, and market signals to make evidence-based decisions.
Lead End-to-End Discovery
- Collaborate with design and engineering to understand customer problems and test solution ideas early — using prototypes, interviews, and usage data.
- Engage deeply in the discovery process: map workflows, identify edge cases, and break down complexity into clear, buildable solutions.
- Use your writing to document hypotheses, decisions, and tradeoffs clearly — from problem briefs to product requirements documents.
- Incorporate data visualization best practices to ensure insights are not just accessible, but actionable.
Ship Impactful, Insight-Driven Features
- Include engineering early to align on direction, uncover technical risks, and accelerate delivery through shared context.
- Break down projects into iterative, value-driven releases, enabling faster feedback and continuous improvement.
- Empower engineering with clear goals and customer context, while leaving space for technical creativity and innovation.
- Own key metrics and dashboards to measure success and ensure we’re solving the right problems.
Raise the Bar
- Mentor junior PMs and contribute to how we define and practice product management at Clearstory.
- Help codify standards, templates, and rituals that improve team clarity and cohesion.
- Promote a culture of evidence-based decision-making, data curiosity, and customer empathy.
What You’ll Bring
- 3–6 years of product management experience, ideally in B2B SaaS or platform-style products.
- Proven experience shipping data-focused features — such as dashboards, reporting tools, or analytics experiences — with a strong grasp of data visualization principles.
- Experience collaborating with design and engineering throughout discovery, not just handoff.
- Ability to simplify complex problems into elegant, usable experiences.
- Fluency with product discovery tools and techniques: journey mapping, workflow diagrams, user story writing, and prototype testing.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to alignment and iteration.
Nice to Haves
- Background or curiosity in the construction industry or related operational domains.
- Passion for design and a sense for when a user experience feels "right".
- Experience building products used by multiple personas with varying data needs.
